Subsequently he did one year peripheral service as a Medical Officer at a primary health Centre in Savlaj, Sangli. Here he developed a novel concept of ‘nutrition garden’ for school children. This activity fetched him much appreciation at the district level.
He did MS (Trauma and Orthopaedics) from prestigious Seth G. S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai considered one of the best institutes in India. After completion of training in 2002 he did further speciality training in Paediatric Orthopaedics at Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital, Mumbai and received Knee Arthroscopy training in Bhabha Hospital, Bandra.
He migrated to United Kingdom in 2003 for higher studies in Orthopaedics after completing his PLAB (Professional and Linguistic Assessment Board) test which is conducted by the General Medical Council (GMC), UK.
After working at the Doncaster Royal Infirmary for a period of 6 months, he did Clinical Fellow work at Weston General Hospital (Bristol University) and The County Hospital, Hereford (Birmingham University). He completed his MRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics) and worked at the Registrar level. The five year stay in England offered him excellent training in Primary and Revision Joint replacement in Hips and Knees. He received further training in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Ligament Reconstruction working along-side several well-established surgeons.. His last overseas appointment was at West Suffolk Hospital (Cambridge University). He completed his ATLS (Advance Trauma Life Support) training in 2004 at Goole Hospitals, Grimsby, UK. He migrated back to Pune, India in October 2008.
Since his return to India in 2008, he has been actively performing Knee & Hip Joint Replacements on patients from varied socio-cultural backgrounds. He also specializes in Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction for knee joint and training sportspersons regain their joint prowess. Additionally, he possesses considerable clinical expertise in complex surgeries like Revision Joint Replacement, multiple trauma and peri-articular injuries.
Dr Shantanu has been invited as faculty for various conferences on advances in Joint Replacement surgery and Arthroscopy Surgery. Also, he has been actively involved in conducting workshops for delegates from all over India. Recently he has been approved by The Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburg (UK) as a Teaching Faculty for the Joint Replacement and Arthroscopy courses.
As an Associate Professor, he is into clinical teaching of orthopaedics students from Bharti Medical College and also involved in training of residents at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital.

Audits (UK)
I did five clinical audits while in Doncaster and Bury St Edmunds in UK.
They did help to understand the problem areas and lead to change in hospital policy.
The topics covered were Humerus fracture, Tranexamic acid, use of synthetic bone in revision hip replacements, retransfusion of patient’s own Blood.
Courses
I do chair Faculty positions at multiple courses and conferences including Arthroscopy, Joint replacements and Trauma.
While in UK I did attend many courses including trauma, arthroplasty, and resurfacing, basic sciences, AO courses at Edinburgh, Leeds, Oxford, Cambridge and Nottingham locations.
Presentations
Multiple presentations done in Indian and International conferences like POSAC 2011 to 2016, ISHKS 2014, WIROC 2002, 2013 & 2016, MAOCON 2014, FANCON 2002 and few in the regional meetings.
Administrative Experience
At Primary Health Centre service, I was involved with record keeping and completing government targets on family planning and vaccination. I did a Project about Nutrition through personal garden to achieve aim of Healthy Wellbeing. It turned out popular for school and panchayat visits. I scored ‘Grade A’ for my overall performance.
