Dr. Mamta Deshpande
She did her MBBS from Pune University and opted for speciality in Eye Care (ophthalmology). She completed her ophthalmology training from Miraj Lions NAB eye Hospital. This renowned institute of ophthalmology is a purely charitable hospital providing excellent surgical outcome for needy patients in society.
As a part of training she did DCR, DCT, Ptyrigium, Glaucoma surgeries and Corneal transplant surgeries. But the Cataract surgeries formed the main workload. The usual operative list number at the training hospital used to be quite high, around 70 cases per day. This also helped her to gain excellent exposure to subspecialities in Ophthalmology like Glaucoma, Retina, Cornea, Paediatric cases and Occuloplasty.
After this training she went to UK for 5 years where she gained insight into the general ophthalmology practices in UK. This helps her to counsel the patients and deliver the eye care in the most ethical way.
Since her return to India in October 2008, she started her ophthalmology practise in Pune. Initially joined the SKN Medical College as a Senior Registrar and continued doing surgical work for the poor and needy patients. She was involved in teaching services for MBBS students, Technicians and clinicians.
She started her private clinic in Bavdhan, Pune in November 2011 at Foresight Clinic. She became a member of a well known hospital, Atharva Netralaya. This is a state of the art, dedicated eye hospital located at Ghole Road, Deccan Shivajinagar, Pune. The hospital is fully equipped with all very expensive but much needed modern instruments. The operation theatre has the Zeiss microscope and Phacoemulsification unit. The glaucoma evaluation in the form of perimeter, OCT, Non contact tonometer is offered. The cataract evaluation is done by IOL master. She prefers to do most of her surgical work in this premium hospital set up.
The Training:
She graduated from MIMER Medical College, Talegoan.( Pune University) After completion of internship training in Government Medical College, Aurangabad, she chose to specialize in Ophthalmology. She did a 2 year Diploma course in Lions NAB Hospital in Miraj. She received further insight into general Ophthalmology in UK. After her return to India from UK she obtained a Fellowship in Glaucoma at the renowned H.V.Desai Hospital, Pune.
